Peer Recovery Services is proud to provide the Peer Warm Line, a listening phone line providing recovery resources staffed by individuals living in recovery from substance abuse, mental health and trauma.  

The Peer Warm Line number is (757) 664-6683 and is available every day from 9am to 8pm.

The Peer Warm Line is available 365 days a year from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please see our WARM LINE FLYER for more details. PLEASE NOTE: The Peer Warm Line is NOT a crisis hotline. If you or a loved one is in crisis, please call the National Crisis Hotline at 1-800 273-8255 or Norfolk Community Services Emergency Services at (757) 664-7690. 

Recovery Has A New Home! 

 OpPRDC logoerating under the umbrella of the Norfolk Community Services Board, we provide peer recovery services to all individuals living in recovery from a mental illness, substance abuse and/or trauma.

We have members who have been trained and certified by the Department of Behavioral Health to assist others in recovery and wellness, as well as self help programs and emerging best-practice education. Through peer-led, non-clinical services, peers encourage participants to learn and practice recovery skills, exercise choice and decision-making responsibility in a safe, friendly and supportive environment.  

Peer Recovery Drop-In Center (PRDC)

The Norfolk Peer Recovery Services Program’s Peer Recovery Drop-in Center (PRDC) provides individuals in recovery a safe place in the community. The PRDC provides peer-led, non-clinical services, such as self-help groups, recovery skills discussions and workshops, self-help programs and emerging best-practice education in a friendly, supportive environment.

We Need Volunteers! 

The Norfolk Peer Recovery Services Program has opened a new Peer Recovery Drop-in Center (PRDC) that provides a safe place in the community, and provides self-help programs, emerging best-practice education, peer-led non-clinical services, recovery skills, PRDC2and a friendly and supportive environment. Volunteers will work side-by-side with Certified Peer Recovery Specialists in the Peer Recovery Drop In Center (PRDC). The goal of the PRDC volunteer is to assist the peer staff with strengthening an individual's recovery skills and provide a safe, non-judgmental and informal environment to effect and enhance the exercising of choice and decision-making responsibilities. We at the PRDC want to create and cultivate a lasting relationship with the local community. The PRDC is a diverse, interactive and resourceful tool serving the Norfolk community.

How To Apply 

Complete the online City of Norfolk Volunteer Application (PDF).  In the "areas of Interest" box, write "Norfolk Community Services Board Peer Services." Your volunteer application will be forwarded to Norfolk CSB.

Application Response

The Peer Division Head (Raymond Barnes) will call or email you to review your application and collect any additional information. He will then send those recommended for volunteer opportunity to the CSB Personnel Support Team. You will then be contacted to go to the City for a background check and drug screen. Your first volunteer day with the CSB will be for additional orientation and state background review.
