Public Transportation: 

There are many options if you want to take advantage of public transportation, including advance online ticket sales to avoid lines. 

Round-trip passes are $4 each and are valid on Nov. 18 only. They will be available for purchase on Ticketleap beginning Nov. 10 through the day of the parade.

To further accommodate parade goers, the Tide light rail and Elizabeth River Ferry will operate with increased frequency on parade day.

Starting at 4 p.m., The Tide will operate on a 10-minute schedule up until one hour following the end of the parade. Then, from 10 p.m. to midnight, light rail will run every 30-minutes. HRT will not serve the Harbor Park light rail station between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the day of the parade, as Harbor Park is a staging area for parade participants.

The Elizabeth River Ferry will operate every 15-minutes from 4 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. from Waterside, High Street, and North Landing.

Bus service will be suspended at stops in Downtown Norfolk impacted by traffic restrictions for the parade.

FREE parking is available for light rail customers at Newtown Road Station, Military Highway Station, and Ballentine Broad/Creek Station.

Downtown Parking:  

On-street parking restrictions will vary in Downtown Norfolk from Friday, Nov. 17, to Sunday, Nov. 19. Please pay careful attention to posted NO STOPPING/NO PARKING signage regarding parking restrictions. We encourage you to use one of the many Downtown parking garages. Freemason Parking and Access:Street Closures:

Please expect traffic delays in Downtown Norfolk on Saturday, Nov. 18, between 6 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. – 10 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 19, between 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. Norfolk police will provide support during the traffic restrictions and allow access at any time it is safe to do so. Street closures will impact ingress and egress from downtown parking garages.

Saturday, November 18: 

Norfolk Harbor 5K: Streets will be closed/restricted during the race and reopened when the last runner passes.

Grand Illumination Parade: The police will begin rolling street closures for streets on and adjacent to the parade route by 6 p.m., unless otherwise noted. NOTE: These times are subject to change as directed by the Norfolk Police Department.

Route: The parade steps off at Main Street and St. Paul's Boulevard and continues on Main Street to Granby Street; turns right on Granby Street to Freemason Street; turns left on Freemason Street to Boush Street; then left on northbound Boush Street to Waterside Drive and ends at the intersection of Waterside Drive and St. Paul's Boulevard. 

Street Closures:

Waterside Drive Street Closure: Waterside Drive will reopen following the Grand Illumination Parade for egress out of Downtown. At approximately 10:30 p.m. westbound Waterside Drive will close from Atlantic Street to Main Street and eastbound will close from Main Street to Martins Lane. Waterside Drive will close completely at 4 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Sunday, November 19:

Norfolk Harbor Race Half Marathon & 10K: Streets will be closed/restricted for the races and reopened when the last runner passes.
